Navy Downs American 62-40

WORCESTER, Mass. - Abi Campbell and Lauren Skrel both scored 14 points to lead the Navy women's basketball team to a 62-40 victory over American in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament. The Midshipmen, who now stand 11-17 overall, will advance to face either Holy Cross or Lafayette in the semifinals on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Eagles conclude their season at 12-16.

Navy led 22-19 at halftime, before opening the second half on a 13-4 run to go up by 12 (35-23) with 14:46 left to play. American closed the lead to nine points (35-26) at the 12:18 mark, before the Midshipmen used a 13-0 run to put the game away. Nikki Curtis scored six of her 13 points during that spurt.

Both Skrel and Curtis posted double-doubles for Navy, as Skrel had 11 assists and Curtis totaled 10 rebounds. The Midshipmen shot 44.4 percent from the floor (20 of 45) and 81.0 percent from the free throw line (17 of 21) on the night.

American, which shot only 25.4 percent from the field (16 of 63) and 7.1 percent from three-point range (one of 14), was led by Chanel Hunt with a game-high 17 points.
