Holy Cross Falls to Colgate, 3-2

Oct. 30, 2004

Hamilton, N.Y. - Justin Seconi scored with 3:33 left to play in the first overtime to lift Colgate to a 3-2 win over Holy Cross in a Patriot League match-up on Saturday night. The Crusaders fall to 7-6-1 (1-4-1), while the Raiders improve to 11-6 (3-3).

Colgate got on the board just 11 minutes into the game when Reed Grimes headed a free kick by Sean O'Sullivan to put the Raiders up 1-0. But just 10 seconds later, the Crusaders tied the game at one apiece when freshman Sefton Kincaid scored off a Josh Trott pass at the 11:44 mark.

Trott then gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at the half when he beat Raiders keeper Josh Cohen less than three minutes before the break.

The Raiders came back to tie the game at the 64:30 mark when Peter Bourquin fired a shot from 18 yards out that found the back of the net to knot the game at two.

The teams battled back and forth until the full 90 minutes were up and overtime ensued. With 3:33 left to play in the first overtime O'Sullivan sent a cross to Dan Belke whose shot was initially saved by Holy Cross keeper Richard Whipple, but Seconi gathered the rebound and knocked in the game-winner.

Holy Cross hosts Bucknell in a Patriot League match-up on Saturday, November 6. Game time is 1:00 p.m. It will also be Senior Day for the Crusaders.
